The pieces below are one-of-a-kind originals by Laura and Bruce Von Stetina. Most of them were reproduced
in the book Mewingham Manor and are among the few of the published pieces that remain unsold.
Laura’s highly detailed pencil drawings
have won her much critical acclaim and have a devoted following of collectors. Some
of the drawings below were done as preliminary studies for paintings, and for others the joy of drawing was an end in
itself.

The Mushroom Dweller (SOLD)
original pencil drawing, framed $475.00
Image size 3 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Frame size 6" x 8"
Study for the watercolor of The Mushroom Dweller. Transparent
watercolor is not a forgiving medium,
and once a painting is in
progress the artist
can not make changes. Before starting to
paint, Laura thinks every aspect of the subject through in pencil.
Only after all details of the composition are finalized and light and
dark patterns
determined can a watercolor be started. These pencil studies
are used for reference while the painting is in progress.
This is the preliminary study for the first painting in the flitten series. The
drawing is
done on Arches hot press paper and framed under glass.
